i just downloaded a movie from torrent and now it doesn’t open windows live search says open with wmp but it says it doesn’t support the codec or format and doesn’t give a error number what to do?

i tried entering the disk (which is 4.7GB) and dragging the movie into it but it wont work

I have the torrent downloaded. I go to view it, and all I hear is audio in Windows Media Player.
I was told by a friend to download vlc player, and I would be able to view it there. So that is what I did. But I still have the same issue. It is an xvid torrent if that helps. What can I do to see and hear the movie? Thanks in advance for your answers!
